Navachetana

Navachetana is a non government organization (NGO) working for the Rehabilitation of poor, destitute and mentally impaired people, “Navachetana” translates to (New Vigour). It is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising of seven members, who are prominent and highly respected individuals in the field of mental health, social work and counseling. Navachetana is mainly working with mentally impaired children and adults for the past 14 years in Bangalore city. We treat people suffering from manic depression, psychosis neurosis, paranoia, schizophrenia and other psychological and pathological cases, from different part of India. History of Navachetana Navachetana is a Home away from Home for the mentally ill patients and it was started in a modest way in a rented house at Madiwala, Bangalore. While starting the centre there were 7 patients and due to the increase of the patients, the organization had moved to a more spacious place. Now the organization is located at above address and has various types beneficiaries in the home. The persons affected by sever mental illness need timely and effective treatment with support of their families and the community with that some recovered fully, while some need continues help in their intra-personal relationship and rehabilitation. Many need rehabilitation in order to learn to live independently. Navachetana, a community based rehabilitation Centre provides all these care to the mentally ill patients. Apart from that the organization provides long – term care and shelter, homely atmosphere and ample opportunities to build confidence in them. They are trained to learn skills, to earn their own living ones they leave the centre. All the members live as family here in the home with the sense of sharing and belonging. The organization also helps them to have confidence in themselves. The organization is equipped with residential staff and guidance of the experienced professionals. The requirements Which we fulfill among the target are regular medication, treatment, counseling, basic needs, group therapy, occupation therapy, work experience and placement, support of the family, training to the family in caring skills, support in crises and respite care, rehabilitation, acceptance and integration in to the community. The organization has been attached the target people for 14 years with its own means and with the help of a few philanthropists. There are no facilities available at all the entire Karnataka running this centre. It is therefore necessary to have a multipurpose rehabilitation centre cum workshops for skill training counseling occupational therapy and various therapy etc.
